Introducing System Setup
Before using this DVD recorder, you may like to change the system settings such as the language of on-screen display, clock
format, and recording mode. Use the Setup menu to complete the process.

by icons, while the ones in second and third levels are represented by text. The table below lists all the options available.
Refer to this table and follow the instruction to complete the system settings. For some settings, more detailed descriptions
are provided in the latter part of this chapter.
How to set up the settings?
1. Press SETUP button on remote control to display the Setup menu.
2. In first- and second-level menu, press to select one of the options,

For some settings, a dialogue box will appear after making a selection or after pressing ENTER in step 3. Select ‘Yes’
to apply the setting. If you choose ‘No’ or do not confirm in 5 seconds, the change will be discarded

The mode of video output (interlaced scan/progressive scan) transmit-
ted from component jack
If you accidentally set ‘Progressive’ as the video output mode when the DVD
recorder is not connected to a progressive-scan-compatible TV, you may lose
the video signal on your TV instantly. To recover the problem, switch off the
DVD recorder and switch it on again. After the recorder is switched on, press
, 5, 0, 2, 0, on remote control, then press ENTER. The recorder will then
be automatically switched off. When you switch on the recorder next time,
the video output mode will be restored to default value.
For models feature HDMI, if HDMI resolution is manually set as 480p,
720p or 1080i when you switch Video Output from ‘Progressive’ to
‘Component’, the setting of HDMI resolution will change to ‘Auto’ with
480i as the output resolution. However, please note that your TV may not
support 480i. In such case, select ‘No’ in the confirmation box popping-up
to discard the change of Video Output and HDMI resolution.

Under the default setting (‘Auto’), the DVD recorder outputs optimum
resolution that can be supported by your TV, and the Video Output mode
changes accordingly without noticing.
