Configuring MPLS L2VPN
Configuration procedure
When creating an LDP VPLS instance, you need to perform the following configurations:
1)  Specify a globally unique name for the VPLS instance and set the peer discovery mechanism to
manual configuration.
2)  Configure LDP as the signaling protocol to be used. This is because in L2VPN implementation, the
Martini mode uses extended LDP (remote LDP sessions) as the signaling for transferring PW
information. Therefore, the LDP mode is also called the Martini mode.
3)  Specify the ID of the VPLS instance.
4) Use
the
peer command to create the VPLS peer PE for the instance, specifying:
IP address of the peer PE.
ID of the PW to the peer PE, which must be consistent with that specified on the peer PE.
Type of the peer PE. A peer of the UPE type is a user access convergence device in the H-VPLS
model. For a UPE, you can configure one and only one NPE peer as the backup peer of the UPE.
PW class template to be referenced. A PW class template defines the PW transport mode and
tunneling policy to be used.
5)  Configuring primary-backup PW switchback: M ake sure that the configurations on the related UPE
and NPE devices are consistent, including whether to enable PW switchback and if yes, the
switchback delay time.
