DISPLAY 
Displays playback infor-
mation, including elapsed 
time and playback status.

FF

Scans forward at 4x normal 
speed. In Stop mode, fast-
forwards the tape.

REW 
Scans backward at 4x, nor-
mal speed. In Stop mode, 
rewinds the tape.

PAUSE 
Pauses playback. While in 
Pause mode, press repeat-
edly to step forward one 
frame at a time.

TRACKING+/- 
Manually reduces noise 
on the screen during tape 
playback.

PLAY OPTIONS 
Shortcut to a variety of 
special playback features; 
see right column.

Press PLAY OPTIONS during VHS playback 
to display the Play Options menu. Use the 


 and ENTER keys to select from 

the following options:

CM Skip 
Skips ahead 30 seconds 
(the typical length of a TV 
commercial).

Audio 
Sets tape audio to Hi Fi, 
Left, Right or Mono.

Slow Motion 
Plays slow motion forward 
at 1/4 normal speed. Press 
PLAY to resume normal 
play.

Index Search+/- 
Scans forward or backward 
to the next Index mark.  
Note: Index marks are in-
visible marks at the start of 
every new recording.

Zero Return 
Rewinds the tape to coun-
ter position 00:00:00.

Counter Reset 
Resets the current tape 
counter position to 
00:00:00.

Auto Track 
Automatically adjusts the 
picture to remove snow or 
streaks.
