DVD Recorder+VCR User’s Guide

NOTE:
• Be sure to ﬁnish all editing before

ﬁnalizing the disc. You cannot edit a
ﬁnalized disc.

Formatting/Finalizing Discs

What is Formatting?

• Formatting completely erases a

DVD+RW so it can be recorded on
again.

• You cannot erase and reformat a

DVD+R disc.

• Make sure you have safely backed

up your DVD+RW disc before refor-
matting because all contents will be
erased.

Formatting a DVD+RW

To format (erase) a DVD+RW disc:

Press GUIDER to display the Easy
Guider menu.

Press  to select “Erase” and then
press ENTER.

Press ENTER again to conﬁrm that you
wish to erase and reformat the disc.

When the disc formatting process
is complete, press ENTER to exit the
Easy Guider.

What is Finalizing?

• Finalizing a DVD+R locks its record-

ings in place so the disc can be
played on most standard DVD players.

• After you have ﬁnalized a DVD+R disc,

you cannot edit or record anything
else on that disc.

• Finalizing is not necessary when us-

ing a DVD+RW disc.

Finalizing a DVD+R

To ﬁnalize a DVD+R disc:

Press GUIDER to display the Easy
Guider menu.

Press  to select “Finalize” then
press ENTER.

Press ENTER again to conﬁrm that you
wish to ﬁnalize the disc.
• Finalizing can take up to 3-4 min-

utes depending on the type of disc,
how much is recorded on the disc,
and the number of titles on the disc.

When the disc ﬁnalization is com-
plete, press ENTER to exit the Easy
Guider.
