Mise en place des piles
Remarque
Commutateur d’alimentation
OFF
L’adaptateur à piles est inactif.
ON

Notes on batteries
To avoid possible damage from battery leakage or corrosion,
observe the following:
• Be sure to insert the batteries with the +/– polarities
matched to the +/– marks.
• Do not attempt to recharge alkaline batteries.
• Do not use a combination of new and old batteries.
• Do not use batteries other than the types specified.
• Do not use a combination of different types of batteries.
• Do not use leaking batteries.
If batteries are leaking
• Carefully wipe off any liquid in the battery compartment
before inserting new batteries.
• If battery leakage comes in contact with your skin, wash it
off immediately.
• If battery leakage comes in contact with your eyes,
immediately rinse your eyes thoroughly with water and
promptly seek medical attention.
Batteries left in the battery adapter for an extended period of
time will run down, even if the battery adapter is not used.
Installing the batteries
Note
Always insert batteries negative-terminal first, as illustrated. Do not
apply excessive force to batteries. Be sure to insert the batteries with the
+/– polarities matched to the +/– marks. Improperly inserted batteries
may generate excessive heat.
Connecting the battery
adapter to the CLIÉ handheld
Connect the battery adapter to the interface connector of your
CLIÉ handheld as illustrated.
To disconnect the battery adapter from the CLIÉ
handheld
Modes of operation
Power switch
OFF
The battery adapter supplies no power.
ON
The CLIÉ handheld operates with power from
the battery adapter.
CHARGE
The battery adapter charges the built-in battery
of the CLIÉ handheld.
Note
•When the built-in battery of the CLIÉ handheld runs down, some
applications may not be able to operate. In this case, turn the power
switch to CHARGE mode and charge the built-in battery of your
CLIÉ handheld prior to operating it.
•Operation in CHARGE mode offers shorter operating times for CLIÉ
handheld as compared to the ON mode.
When some peripherals are used along with the battery adapter, a
protection circuit may engage to protect the batteries, causing the
battery adapter to stop supplying power. If this happens, disconnect
the peripherals and charge the CLIÉ handheld’s built-in battery
before using the peripherals.
•Always turn the power switch to OFF mode before connecting the
battery adapter to the CLIÉ handheld.
For safety purposes, the battery adapter is designed not to operate if
it is connected to the CLIÉ handheld when the power switch is in ON
or CHARGE mode.
