WiFi-Specific Items
In addition to the standard items, the WiFi Connections Interface contains the following:
Networks Button
Click it to open the list of all WiFi Networks detected by Sprint SmartView. See “Available WiFi 
Networks (Classic Interface)” on page 57
 for more information.
Data Transfer Rate
The first two values represent the rate at which data is currently being sent (
) and received 
(
) by Sprint SmartView over the WiFi connection. These indicators only appear when you are 
currently connected to a network of the corresponding technology type.
WiFi Protocol Indicator
This indicator displays the WiFi protocol used by a network you are currently connected to. 
There are three different protocols:
802.11a - provides over the air transmission speeds of up to 54 Mbps in the 5 GHz 
frequency band.
802.11b - provides over the air transmission speeds of up to 11 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz 
frequency band.
802.22g - provides over the air transmission speeds of more than 20 Mbps in the 2.4 
Ghz frequency band.
Encryption Indicator
This indicates whether the current WiFi connection uses encryption technologies to maintain 
network security. If encryption is used, the type of encryption will be displayed here. If no 
encryption is used, this indicator will not be displayed.
