Configuring Local Domains for XMPP Federation on VCS

You must configure your local domain names for which you want to provide XMPP federated services.

On the VCS Control, go to Configuration > Domains.

Click New (or click View/Edit if the required domain already exists).

Enter your local Domain name to be federated.

Set XMPP federation to On.

Click Save.

Repeat for any other local domains requiring federation.

Please note the following:

A single VCS cluster can support multiple IM and Presence Service clusters using the same presence domain.

■

XMPP federation of multiple IM and Presence Service clusters with multiple VCS clusters is not supported.

■

Each IM and Presence Service cluster needs to be discovered by VCS Control.

Configuring VCS Expressway for XMPP Federation

We recommend that you make XMPP federation configuration changes during a time of day when users will not be
impacted. Enabling XMPP federation will restart the XCP router on all VCS Expressway systems within the cluster.
Any existing mobile and remote access IM and Presence Service client sessions will be interrupted. Depending on the
number of clients, full client reconnection may take several minutes. See

for more information.

On VCS Expressway, go to Configuration > Unified Communications.

Set XMPP federation support to On. When you apply this change you may need to restart the XCP routers on
the IM and Presence Service server(s). The other settings on this page will not require a restart.
