The OCS/Lync devices that must be trusted by the VCS depend on the structure of the OCS/Lync 
environment: 

 

static routes are to be created from the OCS/Lync 
environment 

OCS/Lync FEPs which will be sending traffic towards the 
“OCS/Lync gateway” VCSs 

the OCS/Lync environment is fronted by a Hardware 
Load Balancer in front of OCS/Lync Directors 

Hardware Load Balancer and the OCS/Lync Directors 

the OCS/Lync environment is fronted by an 
OCS/Lync Director 

OCS/Lync Director 

the OCS/Lync environment has no OCS/Lync

1.  Go to the

2.  Click New.  

3.  Configure the fields as follows: 

 

Name to identify OCS/Lync device 

IP address of the device 

5.  Click Save. 

6.  Repeat these steps until all OCS/Lync devices that need to be trusted have been added. 

 

 

Search rules are used to specify the URIs to be forwarded to OCS/Lync (for example, by matching the 
domain of the destination or by matching some element in the URI). 

Search rules can also be used to transform URIs before they are sent to a neighbor, for example to 
add or modify the domain or add, remove or translate user-id prefixes and even to add extra tags to 
SIP URIs, such as user=phone (see “Appendix 8 – TEL URI handling for Cisco VCS to OCS/Lync 
calls” for further information about user=phone). 

For this scenario, anything with a domain ciscotp.com will be matched (and passed to OCS/Lync via 
the B2BUA); no transformation is required.
