2. If the DNS Server that OCS/Lync server uses can provide all DNS lookups needed by VCS:
a. Set Default DNS Server Address 1 to the IP address of DNS server noted earlier.
b. If OCS/Lync server has more than one DNS server defined, configure the additional fields as
follows:
DNS Server Address 2
IP address of DNS server 2 (if there is a second DNS server)
DNS Server Address 3
IP address of DNS server 3 (if there is a third DNS server)
DNS Server Address 4
IP address of DNS server 4 (if there is a fourth DNS server)
DNS Server Address 5
IP address of DNS server 5 (if there is a fifth DNS server)

Click Save.
3. If the VCS must use other DNS servers for normal calls and only the OCS/Lync DNS server for
Lync access:
a. Configure the Default DNS servers with the servers which will be used for normal, non-Lync
related DNS operation and configure the Per-domain DNS servers section as follows:
Address 1
IP address of the DNS server used by OCS/Lync server
Domain names
Domain shared with OCS/Lync
Address 2 … 5
Use these fields only if OCS/Lync server uses more than one DNS server
Domain names 2 … 5
Use these fields only if OCS/Lync server uses more than one DNS server
Configure with: Domain shared with OCS/Lync
Configure with: Domain shared with OCS/Lync
b. Click Save.
Ensure that Local hostname and DNS domain are configured
For each “OCS/Lync gateway” VCS peer, ensure that a unique Local host name is set up and that
the DNS Domain name is set up:
the DNS Domain name is set up:
1. On the
DNS
page (
System > DNS
) set:
a. Local host name to a unique hostname for this Cisco VCS.
b. Domain name to the domain name for this Cisco VCS.
2. Click Save.
Note that:
the Local host name concatenated with DNS Domain name is the routable FQDN of this VCS.
