Product Migration Options
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco ASA 5510 Adaptive Security Appliance
Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) with Advanced Inspection and Prevention Security Services
Module AIP-SSM-10. This solution provides a higher IPS throughput of up to 150 Mbps, plus
industry-leading firewall protection. The AIP-SSM-10 supports inline, promiscuous, and hybrid
deployment modes, but the host ASA firewall must be deployed inline. Customers requiring higher-
performance deployments can purchase the Cisco IPS 4240 Sensor, which supports up to 250
Mbps of IPS throughput. The IPS 4240 supports inline, promiscuous, and hybrid deployment
modes. Customers needing higher-performance inline solutions are encouraged to migrate to the
ASA 5510 IPS solution with AIP-SSM-20, which provides performance-matched firewall and IPS
throughput of up to 300 Mbps in a single integrated appliance. Information about the Cisco ASA
5500 Series IPS solution can be found at
http://www.cisco.com/go/asaips
. Information about the
Cisco IPS 4240 Sensor can be found at
