Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco Aironet
40-bit WEP Products. The last day to order the Cisco Aironet 40-bit WEP Products is
October 27, 2001. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support
from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL
bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco
Aironet 40-bit WEP Products. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this
announcement.
Cisco Systems is committed to providing customers with the highest level of security
available. Consistent with this, we are discontinuing all 40-bit encrypted products.
Because our products are classified by the United States Department of Commerce as
being "retail" products, Cisco does not differentiate between 40- and 128-bit encrypted
products. Therefore, Cisco holds no export limitations on 128-bit encrypted products that
are not equally applicable to 40-bit encrypted products.
