Add an SCS
Introduction
After you add an MPEG source, if you are using a third-party EIS and a third-party
scrambler (on a third-party SCS) for scrambling the stream, you must add this SCS to
the DNCS database. An SCS is responsible for generating the CWs (for every
Crypto-period cycle) for a given session. The SCS requests the ECMs from the PCG
via the SCS interface (for every Crypto-period cycle) by sending the CW with session
information for every Crypto-period cycle. The PCG then sends the completed ECM
to the SCS. The SCS will encrypt the transport stream with the CW and insert the
ECM in the stream.

Before You Begin
Before you begin, you must have your network map and the SCS modeling
parameters. If you cannot locate your network map, refer to Customer Support (on
page 190). You must also have the following information:

Name used to identify the SCS
NIC-IP address for the interface on the SCS that will communicate with the PCG
