Converting slices to nested HTML tables
Converting slices to tables (ImageReady)
When you convert a document containing slices to HTML, it is output as a single table; each individual slice is placed
inside separate table cells. Slices are actually table cells.
Optionally, you can choose to group slices into tables themselves, which are then nested inside the main table. You
can nest only one level down, however; you cannot nest slices grouped into tables inside other slice group tables.
A slice of type Table Slice is a slice that contains a table you’ve created, or a nested table.
To create a table (ImageReady)
You can select and group slices for output as separate, nested tables when converting a document to HTML.
❖
Do one of the following:
Select multiple slices and then click the Group Slice Into Table button
 in the Web Content palette.
Select multiple slices and then choose Slices > Group Slices Into Table.
Select a slice, and change the slice type from “Image” to “Table” in the Slice palette. Switch to the Table palette to
set its attributes. ImageReady automatically creates a user slice to fill the table.
in certain browsers. If this happens to your table, a yellow warning icon
Note: Certain slice layouts require ImageReady to generate spacer cells (spacer.gif images) to render the image properly
appears in the table’s header in the Web
Content palette.
Viewing tables (ImageReady)
In the Web Content palette, slices grouped as nested tables are indicated with the table icon
. This same icon
appears in your document window, with the borders of the slice table outlined in color.
You can see tables in ImageReady’s Web Content palette or in the image in your document.
You can also see your table in the Table palette. It has option areas for the table’s Dimensions, Auto Slicing method,
and Cell Options.
