Flex the right side of the scanner bed to release the right side of the optical-assembly guide-rod
from the scanner chassis.

Disengage the scanner belt, tilt the optical assembly up, and slide the guide-rod out of the left
mounting hole.

Make sure that the optical assembly is not in the home position when it is

tilted. This might damage the home position sensor.

For reinstallation, make sure that the optical assembly is in the home position

when you tighten the scanner belt.

Remove the rod from the optical assembly.

Perform a scanner calibration after replacing this part.

If streaks occur in the scanned image after replacing this part, remove the scanner glass and
cover. Clean the back side of the glass and the white calibration strip by using a lint-free cloth.

If, after calibrating and cleaning, scan-quality issues still exist, replace the flatbed unit
assembly.
