Recommended action
Verify that CN106 (scanner motor) on the
scanner controller board is properly
correctly (see figure 7-3).
Verify that CN109 (home position sensor)
and the connector on the scanner controller
board is correctly seated. See figure 7-3.
30.1.10 SCAN FAILURE
The ADF fan was reported as non-
operational.
The ADF fan (see figure 7-5) only operates
during a scan process. Remove the ADF
cover and observe the fan operation during
the scanning process. Verify that the fan
connection on the ADF intermediate PCA is
fully seated. If the fan still does not rotate
during the scan process, replace the ADF
assembly.
30.1.18 SCAN FAILURE
There is no communication between the
optical assembly and the formatter board.
Verify that CN104 (optical head) on the
scanner controller board is correctly seated.
If the failure persists, replace the optical
assembly (see figure 7-3).
40 BAD EIO X TRANSMISSION To

The connection between the digital sender
and the EIO card in the specified slot has
been broken.
Touch OK to clear the error message and
continue sending.
40 EMBEDDED I/O BAD TRANSMISSION
To continue touch OK
The connection with the embedded
HP Jetdirect network interface has failed.
Turn the digital sender off and then on again.
If this message persists, replace the
formatter.
52.XY ERROR To continue turn off then
on
The scanner has encountered an error.
Turn the digital sender off and then on again.
If this message persists, replace the flatbed
unit assembly.
57.XX ERROR To continue turn off then

The fan motor has encountered an error.
Turn the digital sender off and then on again.
If this message persists, replace the
scanner motor fan.
64 ERROR To continue turn off then on
A scan buffer error occurred.
Turn the digital sender off and then on again.
If this message persists, replace the
formatter.
68.X STORAGE ERROR SETTINGS

An error occurred in the device nonvolatile
memory (NVRAM), and one or more digital
sender settings are invalid and have been
reset to the factory-default settings.
Scanning can continue, but some
unexpected functions might occur if an
error occurred in the permanent storage.

68.X PERMANENT STORAGE FULL To

The device NVRAM is full. Some settings
that are saved in the NVRAM might have
been reset to the factory defaults. Sending
