Determining the Image Format
The following five image types are available. Select the one best suited to the film
type and the intended use of the image.

24-Bit Color:
The image is expressed in 256 colors (8 bits) per RGB channel.

Black and White: Images are expressed in two colors only, black
and white. The threshold value determines the

Attempting to scan images in the 12-bit grayscale or 36-bit color scanning
modes in application programs not compatible with these modes may cause
the programs to “hang.” Before attempting these modes, please confirm

Images scanned in 36-bit color with versions of Photoshop compatible with
36-bit color become 16-bit channel mode images.

The 12-bit grayscale and 36-bit color scanning modes are not available
when CanoCraft FS 3.6 is used as a stand-alone application or when the
CanoScan 2700F film scanner is used.
