F-NET
F-NET is organized as shown in the Fig. A-8 for the following reasons:
(1) Terminals and the network are considered to be integrated, and termi-
nal functions are concentrated as far as possible on the network to
improve terminal economy.
(2) Many services can be achieved and line usage efficiency improved by
adopting a storage and conversion system.
(3) Adoption of digital transmission lines enables high-speed transmission
of large volumes of data.
(4) Reasonable communications costs can be achieved by sharing existing
subscriber telephone network facilities.
