• The battery life may shorten

depending on the operation of the
unit.

For maximum performance we
recommend that you use an
alkaline battery.

Remove the rechargeable battery if
inserted. Attach the battery case
and connect the AC power adaptor
(AC-E15L for Japan or AC-E15HG
for other countries; not supplied) to
the DC IN 1.5 V jack of the battery
case and to the wall outlet.
Do not use any other AC power
adaptor.
Specifications for AC-E15HG varies
for each area. Check your local
voltage and the shape of plug
before purchasing.

earphone cord behind your

Slide the PUSH OPEN slide
lock to release the cassette
compartment cover. Then, open
it manually. Insert the cassette
with the tape facing front.

Make sure the HOLD function
is turned off.
If it is on, slide the HOLD
switch to turn it off.

Press the jog lever to play. Then
adjust the volume with VOL
on the remote control.
If the earphones do not fit to
your ears or the sound is
unbalanced, turn round the
earphones a little to fit to your
ears firmly.

Note
• When the tape is playing, the

cassette holder is locked and you
cannot slide the PUSH OPEN slide
lock. Do not open the cassette holder
forcefully.

Note on volume control
• The VOL switch on the main unit

has three steps; MIN/AVLS, NORM,
and MAX.
Generally, set it to NORM and make
fine volume adjustments on the
remote control. Set it to MAX when
the recording level is low. Set it to
MIN to activate AVLS (see
"Protecting Your Hearing (AVLS)").

Note on AMS, REP (REPEAT Single
Track) and BL SKIP
• The AMS and the REPEAT Single

Track functions detect a blank of 4
seconds or longer between the
tracks. The BL SKIP function detects
a blank of 12 seconds or longer. If
there is noise between the tracks,
these functions may not recognize
the blank and may not operate.
Likewise, if there is a low-level
segment within a track, these
functions may recognize it as a blank
space.

exit the menu mode.

Note
• If the sound becomes distorted with

the GRV effect, select MB or NORM.

Slide MENU to enter the menu
mode. The present sound emphasis
will be marked by the “

r”.

Notes on the menu mode
• You cannot enter the menu mode

during fast-forwarding or
rewinding.

• You cannot operate the tape while

you are in the menu mode.

• The menu setting is stored as long as

the battery is not replaced.

• When you press the jog lever to

enter, or if you leave the remote
control unoperated for more than 30
seconds, the display will exit the
menu mode automatically. To exit
the menu mode manually, slide
MENU again.

Set the VOL switch on the main
unit to MIN/AVLS.

Set the VOL switch on the main unit
to NORM or MAX.

Note
• If the sound becomes distorted when

using bass emphasis and the AVLS
function together, turn down the
volume on the remote control.

Slide the HOLD switch in the
direction of the arrow to lock the

Attach the supplied battery case,
and then insert one R6 (size AA)
battery (supplied) with correct
polarity.

Insert the supplied
rechargeable battery (NH-
14WM) into the charger with
correct polarity.

Plug in the charger to the house
current (mains).
Japanese model:
A rechargeable battery charged
for about 5 minutes will power
this Walkman for about
2 hours. Full charging takes
about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
World model:
Full charging takes about
2 hours.

Insert the fully charged battery
into the rechargeable battery
compartment.

You can charge the battery about
300 times.

disposal of battery used to power

Note on side A/B detection
• This Walkman detects the side being

played using the cavity on side A of
the cassette. If there is no cavity on
the cassette or the cavity is on side B,
the detection will not be done
correctly.

If the cassette holder does not
close
• Make sure that the tab is not

protruding. If the tab is protruding,
slide the PUSH OPEN slide lock all
the way to the left and close the
cassette holder.

長時間テープについて

分をこえるテープは非常に薄く伸びやすいので、こきざみな走行、停止、早送

り、巻き戻しなどを繰り返さないでください。テープが機械に巻き込まれる場合が
あります。

ヘッドホンについて

付属のヘッドホンは、音量を上げすぎると音が外に漏れます。音量を上げすぎて、ま
わりの人の迷惑にならないように気をつけましょう。
雑音の多いところでは音量を上げてしまいがちですが、ヘッドホンで聞くときはいつ
も呼びかけられて返事ができるくらいの音量を目安にしてください。

リモコンについて

付属のリモコンは本機専用です。また、他機種に付属のリモコンで本機の操作はでき
ません。

万一故障した場合は、内部を開けずにお買い上げ店またはソニーサービス窓口にご相
談ください。

•

充電式電池について

•

お買い上げ時や長い間使わなかった充電式電池は、持続時間が短いことがありま
す。これは電池の特性によるもので、数回使えば充分充電されるようになります。

•

充電が終わったら、早めに充電器をコンセントから抜いてください。長時間差した
ままにすると、電池の性能を低下させることがあります。

•

充電中は充電器や充電式電池が熱くなりますが、危険はありません。

•

充電式電池を持ち運ぶときは、付属の充電池ケースに入れてください。ケースに入
れずに、キーホルダーなどの金属類と一緒にポケットなどに入れると、電池の＋と
−がショートして危険です。

日本国内での充電式電池の廃棄について

このマークはニカド電池のリサイクルマークです。

この製品に付属している充電器は、ニカド電池（
