Always have maintenance work carried out 
at an authorized Sprinter Dealer which has
the necessary specialist knowledge and 
tools to carry out the work required.
The manufacturer recommends that you use 
an authorized Sprinter Dealer for this pur-
pose.
In particular, work relevant to safety or on 
safety-related systems must be carried out 
at an authorized Sprinter Dealer. There is a 
risk of an accident and injury if this work is 
carried out incorrectly.
Problem

The engine does not start.
You can hear the starter motor working.
There may be a malfunction in the fuel 
supply.
 Turn the key back to position 0 in the 
ignition lock before the next starting 
attempt.
 Start the engine again.
Note that excessively long attempts 
to start the engine may drain the bat-
tery.
If the engine still will not start after sever-
al starting attempts:
 Consult 
an authorized Sprinter Dealer

Vehicles with a diesel engine:
The engine does not start.
You can hear the starter motor working. The 
reserve fuel warning lamp is lit and the fuel 
gauge is at 0.
The fuel tank has been run dry.
 Refuel the vehicle.
 Bleed the fuel system ( page 318).
