Press and hold the 

key to switch between text and numeric entry. The 

icon

 is displayed at the top of the screen when the device is in 

numeric entry mode. 

Depending on which capitalization mode you have selected, one of the 
icons 

, 

, or 

 is displayed when the device is in text entry 

mode.

■ Predictive text

Predictive text input allows you to write messages quickly using your 
keypad 
and the built-in device dictionary. It is much faster than using the 
standard 
mode multi-tap method. You can use predictive text to write a message 
and create a calendar note.

To activate predictive text at any text entry screen, select 

 > 

. Select a language.

• For each letter of the word that you want to spell, press the 

corresponding key on your keypad only once, even if the letter you 
want is not the first letter on the key. The device guesses the word 
you are trying to spell.

• If a displayed word is not correct, press

 to see other matches. 

To move forward through a list of matches, press 

 repeatedly. 

To return to the previous word in the list of matches, select 

.

• Press 

 to accept the word, enter a space, and begin writing the 

next word.

• If

 appears after a word, select 

 to add the word to the 

dictionary.
