on the G-1000 and the external filename refers to the filename not on the G-1000, that is, on
your computer, local network or FTP site and so the name (but not the extension) will vary.

Option 5 from Menu 24 – System Maintenance allows you to backup the current G-1000
configuration to your computer. Backup is highly recommended once your G-1000 is
functioning properly. FTP is the preferred method, although TFTP can also be used.
