This section describes the “fatal” error messages that can appear on the 

library’s operator panel. If one of these errors occurs, the library goes into a 

halted state where only serial diagnostics communication is possible. The only 

recovery is to power-cycle the library: press the 0 on the back of the library 

(power off), and then press the IIII (power on).



Table 

 lists the errors in alphabetical order.



Fatal errors appear in the following format (see example below).   

The operation has been 

stopped by the user.

Retry the operation, if desired.

The library does not 

recognize the tape drive.

Verify that the tape drive settings in the “Drive 

Configuration menu match the type of tape 

drive(s) installed.

Ensure that you have a valid SCSI ID set for 

the tape drive. See
