e) Inspecting the Rudder System
Figure 2 shows the rudder (1), the attachment
screws of the rudder (2), the rod connection for the
linkage rods (3), the connection of the water cooling
(4) and the entry openings of the water cooling (5).
For the first run, the rudder (1) must be installed
with two threaded screws (1 x M4 x 20 mm and 1 x
M3 x 20 mm) vertically to the body boat.
Plug the linkage rods into the linkage connection
for this (3).
Switch your remote control on and put the steering
servo to the neutral position. Adjust the rudder in
the neutral position as well.
Now fasten the linkage rods with the hexagon socket
screw (3) of the linkage connection.
Check the function of the rudder linkage. For this,
observe the notes in the following chapter „Model
Commissioning“. Finally, the hose for water cooling
(4) must be pushed on.
Check the rudder system and its linkage for tight fit and damage before any voyage. A damaged or loose
linkage/attachment (e.g. loose screws, see figure 2, items 2 and 3) must be repaired before the voyage. If
this is not observed, the linkage rods and/or rudder system may come loose unintended in operation.
There is a danger of further damage to your model (e.g. the steering servo blocks). The model will also no
longer be controllable and may cause uncontrollable damage there. Also observe the following information
in the chapter 9 „Model Commissioning“.
„Metal/metal“ screw connections must be secured against unintended loosening either with stop nuts or with
a drop of threadlocker varnish.
f) Setting the Trimming Flaps
Your model has two trimming flaps at the left and right of the tail (figure 2, item 6). These trimming flaps serve to
optimise sliding of the model. Twisting of the set screws slightly adjusts the trimming flaps. After adjustment of the
screws, they must be countered with the nuts and thus protected from independent loosening.
The model sliding properties depend on many factors. For example, the weight and installation site of the
drive battery and/or the properties of the water surface (many or few waves) influence the model sliding
properties. Therefore, these operating instructions can not offer specific setting information. You need to
perform operation tests to find the best settings.
