Connecting AV Equipment
Connecting Composite (AV) Video Signal
Composite video input is the most commonly used signal input. However, this type of input also
provides a less optimal image quality. Many video sources can only output Composite video sig-
nals, for example, VCRs and camcorders. Other video sources, such as laser disc players, actu-
ally produce slightly better results when using Composite video.
Connecting S-Video Signal
An S-video signal provides a higher quality image to that of Composite video. It is recommended
to use this input whenever possible. If your AV equipment provides a component video output
(YP

 or YC

), this should be used in preference to either composite or S-video signals.
Connect the Composite (AV) output of
your AV equipment to the Composite (AV)
signal terminal on the TV using a Compos-
ite (AV) video cable (RCA connector) as
illustrated.
Video game
Connect the S-Video output of your AV
equipment to the TV's S-VIDEO terminal
using an S-Video cable. Pay attention to the
direction of the connector on the S-Video
cable when inserting.
Connect the audio output of your AV
equipment to the S-Video output of your
AV equipment to the TV's S-VIDEO termi-
nal using an S-Video cable.
