Using the Built-in Flash
Use a flash to take pictures in low light or backlit conditions.
The built-in flash is optimum for a subject at a distance from approx. 0.7 m 
to 5 m. Vignetting (darkening of the corners of the image due to a lack of 
light) may occur when used at a distance closer than 0.7 m (this distance 
varies slightly depending on the lens being used and the sensitivity setting.

Discharge
Automatically measures the ambient light and 
determines whether to use the flash.

eye Reduction
Discharges a pre-flash for red-eye reduction before 
the automatic flash.

Flash On
Discharges the flash for each picture.

Flash On+Red-
eye Reduction
Discharges a pre-flash for red-eye reduction before 
the main flash.

Slow-speed Sync
Sets to a slow shutter speed depending on the 
brightness. When using this to shoot a portrait with 
the sunset in the background, both the person and 
the background are captured beautifully.

Slow-speed Sync
+Red-eye
Discharges a pre-flash for red-eye reduction before 
the main flash is discharged with Slow-speed Sync.
I
Trailing Curtain 
Sync
Discharges the flash immediately before closing the 
shutter. Captures moving objects as if they are 
leaving a light trail behind them. (p.209)

The flash is deactivated.
