Setting up the phone for use

Please note:
u Always repeat the charging and dis-
charging procedure if you remove the 
batteries from the handset and insert 
them in again.
u The batteries may warm up as they are 
charging. This is not dangerous.
u After a while the charge capacity of the 
batteries will decrease for technical rea-
sons.
Attaching the belt clip
There are notches on the side of the hand-
set side at approximately the same height 
as the display for attaching the beltclip.

Press the belt clip onto the back of the 
handset so that the protrusions on the 
belt clip click into the notches.
The belt clip's clasp must be pointing 
towards the battery compartment.
Changing the base station
If your handset is registered to more than 
one base station, you can set it to a partic-
ular base or to the base station that has 
the best reception (
Best Base
).

Changing the name of 
the base station
The names "Base 1" to "Base 4" are 
assigned automatically. You can change 
the name of your base station.

Activating/deactivating the

Press the end call key and 
hold. You hear the confirma-
tion beep.
Activating/deactivating
the keypad lock

 Press the hash key and hold
You hear the confirmation beep. The icon 
Ø appears in the display when the keypad 
lock is activated.
The keypad lock deactivates automatically 
if someone calls you. It re-activates when 
the call is finished.
Note:
– The handset should only be placed in a 
base station or charging cradle that is 
designed for it.
– When the handset is in the cradle, it 
charges even if it is switched off. 
– If the handset has switched itself off 
because the batteries are flat and if it is 
then placed in the cradle, it will switch itself 
on automatically.
– After the first battery charge and discharge 
you may replace your handset in the charg-
ing cradle after every call. 
Note:
You can call emergency numbers (page 25), 
even when the keypad lock is activated.
