Click the Advanced tab.

Click the Advanced Port Settings button.

Click the Defaults button and then the OK button.

Click the Change Default Preferences... button, then click the Advanced tab.

Verify that the defaults are set:
— Data bits is 8
— Parity is none
— Stop bits is 1
— Modulation is Standard

Click OK three times to save and exit.
External modem not used
NOTE:
This procedure is necessary if the factory-shipped modem is not used.

Connect to the S8100 desktop.

Click Start
→
Settings
→
Control Panel.

Double-click Phone and Modem Options.
The Install New Modem wizard is displayed:

Click Don’t detect my modem. I will select it from a list.

Click Next.

Click Add.

Select the manufacturer (3COM Corp) and the model (US Robotics 33.6K FAX Ext).

Click Next.

Select the port the modem is attached to (COM1).

Click Next.

Under “On which ports do you want to install it?, select Selected ports.
