Receiving and Making Calls

Use the Call Alert features to contact an individual radio. See 
Call Alert Operation on page 36 for more 
information.Procedure:
1
Select the channel with the active subscriber alias or ID. 
See Selecting a Channel on page 14.
OR
Press the programmed One Touch Access button.

Press the PTT button to make the call. The green LED lights 
up. The display shows the Private Call icon, with the 
subscriber alias alternating with Calling.

Wait for the Talk Permit Tone to finish (if enabled) and speak 
clearly into the microphone.

Release the PTT button to listen. When the target radio 
responds, the green LED blinks.

 If the Channel Free Indication feature is enabled, you 
hear a short alert tone the moment the target radio releases 
the PTT button, indicating the channel is free for you to 
respond. Press the PTT button to respond.
OR
If there is no voice activity for a predetermined period of 
time, the call ends.

You hear a short tone. The display shows Call Ended.
You can also make a Private Call via Contacts (see Making a 
Private Call from Contacts
 
on page 28), manually dial a 
Private Call (see Making a Private Call by Manual Dial on 
page 60) or perform a quick alphanumeric search for the 
required target alias via a keypad entry (see Making a Group, 
Private or All Call by Alias Search
 on page 62).
Making an All Call
This feature allows you to transmit to all users on the channel. 
Your radio must be programmed to allow you to use this feature.
Procedure:
1
Select the channel with the active All Call group alias or ID. 
See Selecting a Channel on page 14.

Press the PTT button to make the call. The green LED lights 
up. The display shows the Group Call icon and All Call.

Wait for the Talk Permit Tone to finish (if enabled) and speak 
clearly into the microphone.
OR
 Wait for the PTT Sidetone to finish (if enabled) and 
speak clearly into the microphone.
Users on the channel cannot respond to an All Call.
Making a Selective Call
Just like a Private Call, while you can receive and/or respond to 
a Selective Call initiated by an authorized individual radio, your 
radio must be programmed for you to initiate a Selective Call.
