The camera was connected to
the computer running Windows
98/98SE before the HDC-
401EX driver was installed, so
the device was not properly
recognized. Open Device
Manager and check to see if a
corresponding entry is found
under Other Devices.
→Use the supplied USB cable.
→Disconnect the cable from the
computer and camera, and
then firmly reconnect it          . 
→Connect to another USB port.
→Remove all peripheral devices  other than
the keyboard and mouse.
→Install the HDC-401EX Driver
.
→If an entry for an unrecognized
device (accompanied by a“ ? ”
symbol) is found under Other
Devices, delete the entry,
restart the computer and then
install the HDC-401EX driver
.

→Use a tripod, etc., to keep the camera as 
still as possible.

The camera is used near a computer or is otherwise

→Delete images from the internal memory 
or the memory card
, or swap

When setting the
layout, the image on
the LCD screen
moves with tails.
In a dark place, the shutter speed drops
and camera shake increases, which is 
the cause of trailing images. Use a 
tripod, etc., to keep the camera from 
moving.
