Remote Controller—Continued
As well as the AV receiver/AV amplifier, you can also 
use the remote controller to control your other AV com-
ponents. The remote controller has a specific operating 
mode for use with each type of component. Modes are 
selected by using the REMOTE MODE buttons.
■ RECEIVER/TAPE Mode
In RECEIVER/TAPE mode, you can control the AV 
receiver/AV amplifierand an Onkyo cassette recorder 
connected via 
.
■ DVD Mode
By default, you can control an Onkyo DVD player in this
mode. By entering the appropriate remote control code,
you can control components made by other manufactur-
ers (see page 104).
■ CD/CDR/MD Mode
By default, you can control an Onkyo CD player in this 
mode. By entering the appropriate remote control code, 
you can control a CD player, MD recorder, or CD 
recorder made by another manufacturer (see page 104). 
■ DOCK Mode
This mode is for controlling an Apple iPod in an Onkyo
RI Dock. 
By default, you can control an RI Dock that has a remote 
control sensor such as DS-A2. When operating an RI 
Dock with an 
 connection, you can control it by 
entering the appropriate remote control code (see 
page 104).
■ TV and VCR Modes
With these modes, you can control a TV and VCR. You 
must enter the appropriate remote control code first (see 
page 104).
■ CABLE/SAT Mode
In CABLE/SAT mode, you can control a cable or satel-
lite TV receiver. You must enter the appropriate remote 
control code first (see page 104).
■ ZONE 2 Mode
This mode is for controlling Zone 2 (see page 101).
Note:
Some of the remote controller operations described in 
this manual may not work as expected with other com-
ponents.
RECEIVER/TAPE mode is used to control the AV 
receiver/AV amplifier. It can also be used to control an 
Onkyo cassette recorder connected via

To set the remote controller to RECEIVER/TAPE 
mode, press the [RECEIVER] REMOTE MODE 
button.
