8.2 Activating FlashCopy
IBM System Storage DS6000 licensed functions are managed using the Disk Storage
Feature Activation (DSFA) application. Also, the DS6000 licensed functions are activated by
the installation of feature activation codes into the 1750 system.

8.2.1 Management
The Disk Storage Feature Activation (DSFA) application can be used to:
Assign an order confirmation code
Select the license scope
Assign the license value
Deactivate a licensed function
These activities are referred to as the “management” activities that you can perform with the
DSFA application and in relation to the DS6000 licensed functions.

With the purchase of the 52xx feature number, IBM provides an order confirmation code. To
activate the function in your machine, you must assign the order confirmation code to your
1750 system (using the 1750 base enclosure serial number). This activity is performed using

Licensed functions are activated and enforced within a defined
