Connecting the X330WAN
This section describes the cables used to connect the X330WAN.
Connecting the E1/T1 WAN Ports
Use an RJ-48C cable, minimum 26 gauge, to connect the E1/T1 WAN ports on the
X330WAN to the network wall jack.
Connecting the USP Ports
X330W-2USP supports several interface types for the Serial ports. The X330W-2USP
automatically detects the cable type used and determines the Serial protocol
needed. You can order the following types of 3 meter length adaptor cables for the
different interfaces.
V.35 interface - SCSI-M34 DTE cable
X.21 interface - SCSI-DB-15 DTE cable
EIA530A interface - SCSI-DB-25 DTE cable
Note:
The X330W-2USP module is a DTE, therefore the cables associated with this
module have male connectors on both ends. If a cable with a female connector on
one end is used (a DCE cable), the X330W-2USP CLI alerts you that the wrong cable
is connected.
For pinouts of the above cables, refer to Appendix A: Interface Specifications.
Connecting the Fast Ethernet (10/100Base-T) Port
Connect a UTP Category 5 cable with an RJ-45 connector to the 10/100Base-T port.
The maximum UTP cable length connected to the 10/100Base-T port is 100m
(328 ft.).
You can obtain appropriate cables from your local supplier.
Connecting the Console Port
The port on the front panel labelled “Console” is for connecting a terminal or a
modem, and has an RJ-45 connector. Connect the X330WAN module to a terminal
using the supplied console cable and the RJ-45 to DB-9 adaptor. To connect a
modem, use the supplied cable and an RJ-45 to DB-25 adaptor.
For pinouts of the Console cables, refer to Appendix A: Interface Specifications.
