PURPOSE-BUILT TECHNOLOGY FOR DNS, DHCP,
AND IPAM SERVICES
Infoblox network identity appliances provide the essential founda-
tion for identity-driven networks (IDNs), delivering reliable, scalable,
and secure network identity services including DNS, DHCP, RADIUS,
and IPAM. The integrated Infoblox approach combines the simplic-
ity of appliances with the power
of advanced distributed database
technology to effectively achieve
availability, manageability, scalability,
and security unparalleled by conventional solutions based on legacy technologies. Key
elements of the Infoblox solution include:
•  A series of highly reliable network identity appliance hardware platforms;
•  The Infoblox NIOS™ operating system, which is security-hardened and includes a
powerful built-in database and extensive capabilities for delivering high-availability
services;
•  The DNSone® v3.2 module, which provides integrated DNS and DHCP services, and;
•  The Keystone™ module, an integrated, real-time services and data management
framework that delivers IP address mangement (IPAM) functionality.
The Appliance Advantage
In today’s network environment, providing nonstop DNS and DHCP services is essential.
This is why appliance delivery of these services has become a recommended industry
best practice. Appliances are inherently more reliable, manageable, scalable, and secure
than general purpose server software-based architectures. Purpose-built appliances
consolidate core network identity services into a unified architecture that can be admin-
istered by a single organizational group enterprise-wide.
FULLY INTEGRATED DNS, DHCP, AND IPAM
The Infoblox DNSone module and the associated Keystone module together provide the
world’s first and only appliance solution that integrates DNS and DHCP into one system
with built-in (vs. built-on) IPAM capabilities.
The DNSone v3.2 module—which delivers integrated DNS and DHCP services for Infoblox
network identity appliances—provides a host of features that simplify and scale the
deployment and management of robust DNS and DHCP infrastructure and provides inte-
grated support for internal and external DNS, enterprise-wide DHCP and network access
control, voice over IP (VoIP), wireless, and other critical network
applications.
The optional Keystone module—which provides a real-time, integrated services and
data management framework that integrates a collection of distributed appliances into
a unified ID grid—includes powerful IP address management tools that support enter-
prise-class requirements at a fraction of the initial and ongoing costs of conventional
IPAM solutions.
Available for the Infoblox-1000 and Infoblox-1200 network identity appliances, the DNSone and Keystone modules
provide enterprises with the essential infrastructure needed to implement secure, reliable identity driven-networks that
are cost-effective and easy to manage.
DNSone runs on either the Infoblox-1000
or Infoblox-1200 appliance platforms
Introducing DNSone v3.2
•  Combined management views and
automation of tasks through integra-
tion of DNS and DHCP services
•  Industry-standard DNS services using
the latest BIND implementation
•  One-button software upgrades that
make it easy to add new features and
to remain secure
•  High availability with fast network
failover and database synchronization
via bloxHA™ and bloxSYNC™
technology
•  Secure management using SSL-based
VPN that works from anywhere,
through any firewall
•  Out-of-band management port for
supporting dedicated management
networks without interfering with DNS
and DHCP service traffic
•  Infoblox Views—an enhanced version
of BIND Views—that provides virtual
DNS services and allows a single
Infoblox appliance to respond differ-
ently to DNS queries based on the
source of the query
•  Built-in TFTP server for distributing firm-
ware and configuration files to network
devices, such as VoIP phones and wire-
less access points, during the booting
(start-up) process
•  Support for network quarantine appli-
cations like Authenticated DHCP in
large environments
