The SR6600 is an external RAID Subsystem (RAID 0, 1, 3, 5) for 5 SATA 1.5/3.0 Gb/s HDD with an integrated network interface for status
control and management. The Subsystem provides 2 SCSI U320 host interfaces. The configuration of the system can be done by the
integrated LCD Display and function keys or the RS232 port via VT100 terminal emulation or with a standard web browser over the Ethernet
interface. The IP-address can optionally be adjusted through Display or VT 100 manually or via DHCP. The system can send event or
error massages via SNMP Trap or email. The concerning event level could be attuned. This massaging works independent of the host
system’s status by using the integrated Ethernet interface. Errors like overheating, hard disk malfunctions and fan failures are additionally
signalled by an acoustic alarm, the LCD panel and the status LEDs.
The HDD cage provides compact space for 5 SATA HDDs which are effectively cooled by 2 powerful 6 cm fans. The system and HDD
temperatures and the fan speed could be monitored online via the mentioned communication channels. The fan speed is automatically
controlled by the system temperature, which ensures a silent operation under normal conditions. The SATA HDDs could be freely bundled
in up to two parallel RAID Sets with RAID level 0, 1, 3 or 5.
A RAID set could be extended online, where just the size is expended and no additional volume is generated. Singular HDDs can be directly
passed through to the SCSI bus (JBOD) or handled as reserve disc (Hot Spare). In case of a controller failure the HDDs could be read in
another SR6600, the data content stays accessible. The HDD carriers have a security push opening mechanism against unintended pull off
and will be also sold separately. The Subsystem is equipped with a 200 W power supply with a separate fan. The Subsystem is also available
as an internal version named SR2900.
