To access system board components:
1.

Open the computer cover. See “Opening the cover” on page 94.

2.

Unlatch and open the adapter card retainer1.

3.

Remove the hard disk drive fan and bracket if necessary (some models). See
“Replacing a fan assembly” on page 119.

4.

Take note of the location of all cable connections on the adapter cards. It will be
necessary to reconnect them properly when replacing the cards.

5.

Disconnect all cables connected to the adapter cards. See “System board
connectors and components” on page 93.

6.

Remove the adapter cards as necessary. See “Replacing an adapter card” on
page 103 for more information.
