This section provides instructions on how to replace a memory module.

Your computer has eight slots for installing or replacing DDR2 DIMMs (double
data rate 2 dual inline memory modules).

When installing or replacing memory modules, use the following guidelines:

Install the DIMMs in identical pairs, which means the DIMMs of a pair should
be the same size, speed, and organization.
Examples:

2 GB PC2-5300 2Rx4 + 2 GB PC2-5300 2Rx4

2 GB PC2-5300 2Rx4 + 2 GB PC2-5300 2Rx8

2 GB PC2-5300 2Rx4 + 1 GB PC2-5300 2Rx4

If the size, speed, or organization of two DIMMs in one pair is different,
the second DIMM will be invalid.

The two DIMMs of a pair must be identical, but one pair can differ from another
pair.

DIMM Slot 1 is closest to the graphic cards, and DIMM Slot 8 is closest to
the power supply.
Install DIMMs in the following order, as shown in the figure below:

Install the first identical pair: DIMM 1 and DIMM 3.

2.

Install the second identical pair: DIMM 5 and DIMM 7.

3.

Install the third identical pair: DIMM 2 and DIMM 4.

4.

Install the fourth identical pair: DIMM 6 and DIMM 8.
