Slave DV-M301 changer
Connecting to Another Changer
for Control of 601 Discs
When you have two Onkyo DV-M301 changers or decide
to add a second Onkyo DV-M301 changer to accomodate
a growing disc collection, it is possible to make
Master-Slave connections to use both changers as a
single unit for total control of up to 601 discs.
• Before making Master-Slave connections, be sure to
complete audio and video connections for the changer
to be used as the master changer (pages 17 and 18).
• When you are adding a second changer, it is
recommended to use the second changer as the
Slave changer.
• Master-Slave connections can only be made to
another Onkyo DVD changer. Connections cannot be
made to an Onkyo CD changer.
Be sure to turn the power off before making any
connections. For full and complete Master-Slave
connection, be sure to make connections for control,
audio, and video as described in the following
procedure.
1
Connect the supplied control cord from this
changer’s MASTER-SLAVE CONTROL MASTER
jack to the MASTER-SLAVE CONTROL SLAVE
jack of another Onkyo DV-M301.

Make audio connections from the Slave changer
to the AUDIO IN jacks or DIGITAL (COAXIAL) IN
jack on this changer corresponding to the type
of audio connections made from the Master
changer to the TV or AV component.
Analog audio connections
• Make connections from the AUDIO OUT jacks on
the Slave changer to the AUDIO IN jacks on the
Master changer.
• Use the audio cable included with the Slave
changer when making analog audio connections.
• When making analog audio connections, be sure
to match the color of the plugs with the color of
the jacks (red and white).
Digital audio connections
• Connect the DIGITAL (COAXIAL) OUT jack on the
Slave changer to the DIGITAL (COAXIAL) IN jack
on the Master changer.
• Use a commercially available coaxial cable to
connect the DIGITAL (COAXIAL) OUT jack on the
Slave changer to the DIGITAL (COAXIAL) IN jack
on the Master changer.
• The digital audio signal input at the DIGITAL
(COAXIAL) IN jack is output from both the DIGITAL
(COAXIAL) OUT and DIGITAL (OPTICAL) OUT jacks.

Notes
• One Master-Slave control cord is supplied with each unit,
however, only one cord is needed.
• When a Master-Slave control cord is not firmly connected, or
transmission is not made successfully, "CONNECT ERR" is
displayed in the display window of both units. Should this
occur, please make connections again.
• When not making Master-Slave connections, do not make any
connections to the MASTER-SLAVE CONTROL jacks.
