By pressing the REMOTE MODE button that’s been 
programmed with the remote control code for your cas-
sette recorder, you can control your cassette recorder 
with the following buttons.
The [TAPE] button is preprogrammed with the remote 
control code for controlling an Onkyo cassette recorder 
when used with an 
u connection.
For details on entering a remote control code for a differ-
ent component, see page 105.
On twin cassette decks, only Deck B can be controlled.
ON/STANDBY button
Turns the cassette recorder on or off.
Previous and Next [7]/[6] buttons
The Previous [
7] button selects the previous 
track. During playback it selects the beginning of 
the current track. The Next [
6] button selects the 
next track.
Depending on how they were recorded, the Previous 
and Next [
7]/[6] buttons may not work prop-
erly with some cassette tapes.
Rewind and Fast Forward [5]/[4
buttons
The Rewind [
5] button starts rewind. The Fast 
Forward [
4] button starts fast forward.
Reverse Play [t] button
Starts reverse playback.
Play [1] button
Starts playback.
MUTING button (58)
Mutes or unmutes the AV receiver/AV amplifier.
VOL [q]/[w] button (56)
Adjusts the volume of the AV receiver/AV ampli-
fier.
Stop [2] button
Stops playback.
Note:
An Onkyo cassette recorder connected via 
u can also 
be controlled in Receiver mode.
The [TUNER] button is preprogrammed with the remote 
control code for controlling an Onkyo tuner when used 
with an 
u connection.
Before controlling the tuner, turn the AV amplifier on.
[TUNER] button
Used to select either AM or FM.
CH +/– button
Used to select radio presets for a connected tuner.
