Operating Instructions
Charging 
a) The internal battery of the HKT 450 must be 
fully charged before it can be used.  Charging 
can be accomplished using the travel charger 
and USB cord included in the package.  First, 
plug the mini USB connector on the USB cord 
into the mini USB socket on the side of the 
HKT 450.  Next, insert the USB connector on 
the opposite end of the cord to the USB 
connector on the Travel Charger.  The HKT450 
can also be charged using the USB cord with 
the included vehicle power adpator, or with a 
computer that has proper USB connector.
b) Normal Charging Time:  Using the 
included travel charger and USB cable, the 
internal battery will take approximately 3 
hours to fully charge. 
c) Charging Indicator: The Red LED on the 
HKT 450 will light up during the charge 
cycle and turn off when charging is 
completed
d) Low battery indicator: The Red LED on the 
HKT 450 will begin to flash every 4 seconds 
when the internal battery is low on power.  
When this occurs, it is necessary to recharge 
the Speakerphone as described above.
Note:  
a) In the case where the HKT 450 has not 
been used for a long time or the internal 
battery has run completely flat, it may take 
several minutes before the Red LED lights up.
b) When low battery indication occurs, and 
the battery is not recharged, the HKT 450 
will automatically switch off.
Power On 
a) While the HKT 450 is off, press and hold 
the MFB (multi-function-button) for 3 
seconds.  
b) An audible tone will be heard and the 
Blue LED lights up for 3 seconds.   
c) Release the multi-function-button, and the 
device is Power On.
Power Off
a) With the HKT 450 in Standby Mode, press 
and hold the MFB (multi-function-button) for 
3 seconds.  
b) An audible tone will be heard and the 
Red LED lights up for 3 seconds.
   
c) Release the multi-function-button, and the 
device is Power Off.
Pairing the HKT 450 with a Mobile Phone
(The HKT 450 must be paired with your 
Bluetooth enabled mobile phone before 
it can be used)
 
1) Pairing Procedure
a) Place the HKT 450 and the mobile phone 
within 3 feet of each other 
b) The Speakerphone should be Power Off 
c) Press and hold the MFB (multi-function-
button) for 6 seconds until an audible tone is 
heard and the Red LED and Blue LED start to 
flash alternately……the HKT 450 is now in 
Pairing mode
d) Initiate the Bluetooth function on your 
mobile phone by setting it to search for new 
Bluetooth devices (Please refer to your 
mobile phone’s user’s manual for detailed 
information) 
e) When the mobile phone shows “HKT450” 
found, stop searching and select “HKT450”
f) When prompted, key-in PIN Code “0000” 
and press enter…..your mobile phone and 
the HKT 450 will pair with each other.  Once 
pairing is established, a long tone will be 
heard through the Speakerphone and the 
Blue LED will flash 5 times slowly.  After 
pairing is completed the HKT 450 will switch 
to Standby mode, and the Blue LED will flash 
every 4 seconds.
g) Once the HKT 450 enters into Pairing 
Mode, you will have 2 minutes to finish 
pairing. Should the pairing fail within this 2 
minute timeframe, a long tone will be heard 
through the Speakerphone, the Red LED will 
light up for 3 seconds, and then the device 
will automatically turn off.  If this occurs, you 
must repeat the pairing procedures as 
described above.
h) After the HKT 450 is paired with the 
mobile phone, return the phone to Standby 
Mode, and make sure the mobile phone and 
the Speakerphone are within a distance of 
30 feet (in open space with no obstruction; 
when indoors, effective distance may shorten 
depending on building construction and 
materials used for construction).  You are 
now ready to use the HKT 450 to place or 
receive calls.
Note:
Some mobile phones may require an 
additional step of adding a short press of the 
MFB (multi-function-button) on the HKT 450 
and manual acceptance of the connection 
on the mobile phone.
Connection
a) Every time the HKT 450 is turned on, it 
will automatically search and connect to the 
last connected Bluetooth device.
Note:
Some Bluetooth devices require manual 
acceptance of the Speakerphone signal   
b) When the HKT 450 is in Standby Mode, 
when you short press the MFB 
(multi-function-button) on the device, it will 
automatically connect to the last connected 
Bluetooth device.

acceptance of the Speakerphone signal   
c) When the HKT 450 is in Standby Mode, 
short press the ”Mode” buttons on the device 
and it will automatically connect the AV 
feature of the last connected Bluetooth 
device.
Power Save Feature
If the HKT450 is not connected to any paired 
device for more than 4 hours, it will automatically 
power off to conserve battery power.  When this 
happens, power on the HKT450 to connect with 
your phone.
Disconnect 
a) The HKT 450 disconnects from the mobile 
phone by the following methods: 
1) Use the mobile phone or other 
Bluetooth devices to break the connection. 
2) Power off the HKT 450. 
Answer Incoming Calls
a) A ringtone heard through the Speaker-
phone will announce an incoming call
b) Answer the incoming call by pressing the 
MFB (multi-function-button) on the HKT 450 
once
End Calls
a) When the HKT 450 is in Talk Mode, press 
the MFB (multi-function-button) on the 
device once to end the call 
Reject Incoming Calls
a) A ringtone heard through the HKT 450 
will announce an incoming call
b) Reject the incoming call by pressing and 
holding the MFB (multi-function-button) on 
the device for 3 seconds.
Voice Dialing 
a) Before using Voice Dialing make sure 
your mobile phone supports the voice 
dialing function, and your mobile phone has 
the voice dial tag recorded. (Refer to user’s 
manual of the mobile phone for detailed 
instructions)
b) If the phone supports the voice dialing 
function, when the HKT 450 and mobile 
phone are connected, short press the MFB 
(multi-function-button) once, and an audible 
tone will be heard through the Speaker-
phone, then say the Voice Call tag to make 
the Voice Dial.
c) If the HKT 450 is playing music, short 
press the MFB (multi-function button) once.  
The music will stop and an audible tone will 
be heard through the Speakerphone.  Then 
say the Voice Call tag to initiate the voice 
dial.
Last Number Redial 
a) Redial the last number dialed by pressing 
the MFB (multi-function-button) on the HKT 
450 twice quickly.
b) Transfer a call from the mobile phone to 
the HKT 450 by pressing the MFB 
(multi-function-button) on the Speakerphone 
once quickly; the call is now transferred 
from the mobile phone to the HKT 450. 
Volume Adjustment
a) During a call, press the “V+”button or 
“V-”button on the HKT 450 to increase or 
decrease its speaker volume. 
Privacy Handset / 
Hands-free Mode Swap
a) During a call, press “Mute/Mode” button 
once quickly
1) the Blue LED will light up
2) the speaker volume and microphone 
sensitivities will be automatically 
attenuated to allow the HKT 450 to be 
used like a standard telephone handset 
b) While in Privacy Handset Mode, press 
“Mute/Mode” button once again quickly, 
and the HKT 450 returns to Hands-free 
Mode. 
b) If the HKT 450 is playing music, press the 
“Mode Button” to pause the music first, then 
initiate last number redial as explained 
above.  
Note:
Depending on the mobile phone being 
used, when you stop the music player and 
initiate phone calls from the Speakerphone, 
after the call is completed the music player 
may not resume playing automatically.  If 
this occurs, press the “Mode Button” to 
re-access the A2DP service, and the music 
playing function will be restarted.  When 
using certain phone models, the music 
player must be restarted from the mobile 
phone.
Call Transfer between the HKT 450 and a 
Mobile Phone
a) Transfer a call from the HKT 450 to a 
mobile phone by holding the MFB 
(multi-function-button) on the Speakerphone 
for 3 seconds, a short audible tone will be 
heard through the HKT 450 speaker and the 
call is now transferred to the mobile phone. 
Playing Music from the Mobile Phone 
through the HKT 450
First, make sure your mobile phone supports 
Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution 
Protocol (A2DP) and Audio Video Control 
Protocol (AVRCP) functions (on some phones 
the A2DP function may appear as AV 
function).  The A2DP function allows the 
mobile phone to stream music wirelessly to 
the HKT 450.  During music play, the 
AVRCP function allows the “Mode Button” 
on the Speakerphone to be used to Play or 
Pause the music from the mobile phone.
Due to variations of mobile phones, 
procedures to play music through the HKT 
450 are not always the same. When the 
Speakerphone is paired with a mobile 
phone, depending on the software in the 
mobile phone, there are a number of ways 
to initiate music playing.  For some phones, 
music play through the HKT 450 is 
automatic; when the music player on the 
mobile phone is started music will be 
streamed through the HKT 450 automati-
cally.  Some mobile phones will require that 
the “Mode Button” on the device be pushed 
to initiate the A2DP function.  Other mobile 
phone models will require the user to select 
3) Volume Adjustment
a) While music is playing, press “V+” or 
“V-”button on the HKT 450 to increase or 
decrease the volume.
Line out 
a) The Line out is a 2.5mm diameter jack 
for connecting a mono earphone 
b) When an earphone is plugged into the 
line-out jack, the speaker audio will transfer 
from the HKT 450 to the earphone 
Restore Factory Default Setting
a) Make sure the HKT 450 is in Standby 
Mode
b) Press and hold both “V+”and 
“V-”buttons for 10 seconds until the Red LED 
and Blue LED alternate quickly
c) Press and hold both “V+”and 
“V-”buttons again for 3 seconds until an 
audible tone is heard twice from the 
Speakerphone
d) The HKT 450 will power off automati-
cally.
e)Now the device resets back to the factory 
default setting (all previous stored different 
device pairing records will be deleted).
the device used to hear the music when the 
music player is started.  
(Always refer to the User Guide of your 
mobile phone for details on playing music 
through A2DP)
Note:
1) 
To answer an incoming call while the 
music is playing
If a call comes in while the mobile phone 
is playing music through A2DP, the player 
will stop the music automatically.  The 
incoming call ring tone will be heard 
through the HKT 450.  To answer the 
incoming call, short press the MFB 
(multi-function-button) on the HKT 450.  
After the call ends, the player will resume 
playing the music automatically.
2) Play or Pause Music
a) While music is playing, short press the 
“Mode Button” on the HKT 450 to pause 
the music
b) While in pause mode, short press the 
“Mode Button” on the HKT 450 to resume 
the music playing
Microphone Mute Mode
a) During a call, press and hold the 
“Mute/Mode” switch on the HKT 450 for 3 
seconds until the Red LED switches on…..the 
microphone on the device is now muted
b) While in MIC Mute Mode, hold the 
“Mute/Mode” switch on the HKT 450 for 3 
seconds until the Red LED switches off…..the 
microphone on the device returns to normal  
Call Holding
a) During a call, press and hold either 
“V+”or “V-” button for 3 seconds to put the 
call on hold
Answer 2nd Call during a Call
a) During a call, when the 2nd call comes 
in, press and hold either “V+”or “V-” button 
on the HKT 450 for 3 seconds to answer the 
2nd call
Call Swap 
a) With two callers on the HKT 450, press 
and hold either “V+”or “V-” button for 3 
seconds to swap between the two callers. 
Note: 
Call holding can only be done only if your 
mobile phone and its SIM support this 
function.
