You can type on your phone using one of the available touchscreen keyboards.

The touchscreen keyboards let you enter text directly onscreen. They appear automatically when 
you touch a text entry field.

There are three types of input methods that you can use:  Android keyboard, Swype, and TouchPal.

 1.  Touch a text entry field, so that a keyboard displays on the screen.

 2.  Flick down the status bar and touch Select input method.

 3.  Select an available input method (English (US) Android keyboard, Google voice typing, 

Swype, or TouchPal Keyboard).
