IPv6 MLD Commands
IGMP and MLD snooping are Layer 2 functionalities but IGMP and MLD are Layer 3 multicast
protocols. If you want to use IGMP and MLD snooping, a network must include a multicast
router that can function as a querier to solicit multicast group registrations. However, if
multicast traffic is destined to hosts within the same network, a multicast router is not
required but an IGMP and MLD snooping querier must be running on one of the switches in
the network and snooping must be enabled on all switches in the network. For more
