The concept of ‘Fields’ in the Paris Designer provides the user with a powerful
tool to achieve a wide variety of data manipulations.

Fields are an area in memory where information can be stored. The contents of
these fields can be extracted from the printstream data (via an Update Field event)

A Field is a user-defined ‘container’ that stores information. The contents of a
field are known as the Field Value and can consist of static text or text extracted
from the incoming printstream data.

The steps to creating a field (the ‘container’) are:

Describe the Container:
Name the field,
Assign the Field Type,
Add the field to the Field List.
