Resetting to Factory Defaults
When physically transferring the appliance, you may want to start with factory defaults. The Reset
Configuration section of the System Administration > Configuration File page, or the r
Configuration section of the System Administration > Configuration File page, or the r
esetconfig
command, resets all Cisco IronPort AsyncOS configuration values to factory defaults. This command is
extremely destructive, and it should only be used when you are transferring the unit or as a last resort to
solving configuration issues. It is recommended you run the System Setup wizard or the

Note
The
resetconfig
command only works when the appliance is in the offline state. When the

command completes, the appliance returns to the online state, even before you run the

command again. If mail delivery was suspended before you issued the

will attempt to be delivered again when the
resetconfig
command completes.
Warning
The
resetconfig
command will return all network settings to factory defaults, potentially
disconnecting you from the CLI, disabling services that you used to connect to the appliance (FTP,
Telnet, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS), and even removing additional user accounts you created with the
