Introduction
This document describes a problem encountered on the Identity Services Engine (ISE) where pages do not
fully load when Adblock Plus is used, and it offers a solution to the problem. With the prevalence of
advertisements on most websites, many users install Adblock Plus as an add−on to their browsers. If pages
match a certain signature, Adblock does not allow the pages to load or the scripts to run.
Problem
The ISE uses a utilities file named adutils for many Active Directory functions within the administrative web
interface. Adblock Plus does not allow the adutils script to be run on the page because it has been found to be
called by advertisements on other web sites.
Solution
The adutils script on the ISE is not related to advertisements. It is a script that contains various Active
Directory−related functions used in order to populate data related to Active Directory. This script is used on
many pages in ISE not limited to the endpoints page, which includes many of the Active Directory
configuration pages. Any Adblock software should be configured with ISE on the exception list so that it is
disabled while ISE is administered. Even though the software will be disabled, ISE will not display
advertisements.
