SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 UniPack Pre-Upgrade Procedures
Overview
Introduction
This chapter contains procedures that you will follow to prepare the system you are
upgrading for the SR 2.5 or SR 3.5 upgrade.
Prerequisites
Note these important upgrade requirements:
•
•
Systems that upgrade to SR 2.5 or SR 3.5 using the UniPack must currently be
operating with system software from SR 2.2/SR 3.2, SR 2.4/SR 3.4, or SR 2.5/SR
3.5.
•
Cisco field service engineers or the system operator must have already installed
the DNCS Utilities software onto the DNCS. Refer to DBDS Utilities Installation
Instructions and DNCS Utilities User’s Guide for instructions on installing and
executing the DNCS Utilities.
Notice to Installers
To ensure a successful system upgrade, it is important that you follow the
instructions described in this chapter in the order given.
Estimated Time to Complete The SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 Upgrade
Cisco engineers have designed the SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 upgrade so that it can be
completed while you are within one maintenance window.
Post upgrade procedures may involve resetting the QAM and MQAM modulators.
Post upgrade procedures may involve resetting the QAM and MQAM modulators.
Reset time is approximately 4 or 5 minutes per modulator. Cisco recommends that
you never reset more than four modulators at once.
Performance Impact
Interactive services will not be available while you are within the SR 2.5 and SR 3.5
maintenance window and after DNCS processes are stopped.
Important Note About Third-Party Applications
Note these important points about third-party applications:
•
•
Identify all third-party applications currently loaded onto either the DNCS or the
Application Server.
•
Contact all third-party vendors before the upgrade to SR 2.5 or SR 3.5. Inform the
vendor that you are upgrading to SR 2.5 or SR 3.5 and determine whether you
need to complete any steps related to the third-party application before or after the
upgrade.
