Chapter 14 Common Administrative Tasks
Backing Up Security Management Appliance Data
Note
A backup process will not start if there are any ongoing backups on the target machine.
Procedure
Step 1
Login, as administrator, to the command-line interface of the source appliance.
Step 2
At the command prompt, type backupconfig and press Enter.
Step 3
If the connection between source and target appliances is slow, turn on data compression:
Type setup and enter Y.
Step 4
Type Schedule and press Enter.
Step 5
Type the IP address of the target Security Management appliance.
Step 6
Enter a meaningful name to identify the target appliance (up to 20 characters).
Step 7
Enter the admin user name and password for the target appliance.
Step 8
Respond to prompts about which data you want to back up.
Step 9
Type 3 to Start a Single Backup Now and press Enter.
Step 10
Enter a meaningful name for the backup job.
The backup process begins in a few minutes.
Step 11
(Optional) To see the progress of the backup, type Status at the command-line prompt.

Checking Backup Status
Step 1
