Changing the Text Input Mode 
Using SYM (symbol) Mode 
The available Text Input modes are: T9 Predictive Text
Numeric, and Symbols (Sym).
Symbol mode enables you to insert symbols and punctuation 
marks into text.
By pressing  
 
, you can cycle among 123, abc, Abc, and

 key to display a matrix of symbols. Use 
the arrow keys to display more tables.

Refer to the Text Input mode in the upper right corner of the 
screen to identify the mode.

T9 Predictive Text: allows your keystrokes to be interpreted 
according  to  a built-in dictionary in the phone to determine the 
likely word. 
2. Select the number of the corresponding symbol and 
press the OK soft key to insert the symbol into the text 
message.
3. Continue until you are finished composing your  
message.

Multitap (Abc): pressing 
 
 
allows you to cycle among the 
various functions. 
Using T9 Pr
edictive Text 
The T9 Predictive Text input method is based on a built-in 
dictionary. A series of keystrokes is interpreted by the phone 
using this dictionary to determine the likely word. 
• 
Numeric: activates the number keys.
 
• 
Sym: displays the symbols table.
 
Using Abc M
ode
 
1. From within an active text input field, press  Options  ➔  
Text Mode ➔ T9 Predictive Text
To change the Text Input mode:
1.  Press  
 once, twice, three, or four times to change 
the text input mode to 123, abc, Abc, or ABC. 
2.  Enter the desired text. 
2. Begin entering a word by pressing the 2 to 9 keys.  
Press each key only once for each letter. The built-in 
dictionary lists words that match the entered 
keystrokes.
