When you enter a different coverage area, for instance when you travel a long distance, you will need to scan 

for channels again. 
To do this, enter the Digital TV mode, select the 

 menu item and then select 

. Your 

device will scan through the available channels and the tuning will be kept for next time.

You should make sure that your ARCHOS 704 TV is in a position that allows for good reception.

For an optimal reception, place your device as close 

as possible to a window. Try different orientations to 

determine which one offers the best reception (see 

‘Signal quality’ icon further down).
Place your device away from any electromagnetic 

source such as a TV or PC, and away from any metal 

surfaces (at least 30 cm/12”).
In areas where the digital TV broadcasting signals are 

weak, the angle (a) of the flap antenna system can 

make a difference in the reception of some stations. 

Also, moving the device within the room can make a 

difference.

This icon is located in the status bar. The number of bars indicates 

the level of quality of the received signal. The icon is split in two 

parts, showing reception for the two antennas that are inside the 

flap. When you move the device, allow a few seconds for the icon to 

show the changes.

Please note that if you use your home antenna and the supplied Antenna Adapter Cable, it is normal that 

only the left side of the icon will show signal quality.
To keep the Signal Quality icon fixed on the screen while searching for the best reception, go to the channel 

list (

).

5.2  waTChIng dIgITal TV

In the Home Screen, tap on the 

 icon to highlight it, then tap on it again to enter the 

Digital TV mode. You can then browse through the available channels.
