this innovative product. The Cleartone saddle will improve the volume, balance, clarity and sustain
of acoustic flattop guitars. The Cleartone will also eliminate traditional under-saddle pickup
balancing issues entirely.

Make sure you have purchased the correct saddle for your instrument.

NOTE: Although the Cleartone saddle can be reshaped to match any fingerboard profile,
choosing the Cleartone closest to your existing saddle’s radius will make for a simpler
installation.

The easiest way to fit the Cleartone saddle is to copy the dimensions of the saddle that you will be
replacing. A pair of Vernier calipers will come in handy for checking your work.

1 Remove the existing saddle from the guitar.

2 Place the Cleartone and the existing saddle side to side and line up the rounded tops.
Carefully compare the degree of curvature between the two saddles. If they match, then leave the
top of the Cleartone untouched. If the tops differ, you will need to reshape the Cleartone to match
the existing saddle.

3  Trace the outline of the existing saddle onto the Cleartone with a sharp pencil. Rough cut the
traced dimensions and then sand or file away the remaining excess material from the Cleartone
saddle until you match the dimensions of the existing saddle.

4 After you finish, sand the bottom edge of the Cleartone maintaining a 90° angle with the sanding
surface. This will optimize the acoustic coupling between strings/saddle/bridge, and improve under-
saddle pickup performance.

5  The Cleartone saddle is molded several thousands of an inch over the standard 1/8” and 3/32”
saddle widths. Sand off only enough material from one side of the Cleartone to permit a precise
“slip fit” between the saddle and the bridge slot; the saddle should slip in and out of the bridge slot
with minimal friction. To check a slip fit, the saddle should slide into the slot easily, but not fall out
with the guitar overturned.
