DirectX 5
During the Interstate ‘76 setup, the installation process will determine if Microsoft’s DirectX 5 needs to
be installed on your computer. If so, the appropriate files will be installed on your computer
automatically.
Q. What is DirectX 5 and why do I need it?
A. Microsoft’s DirectX 5 is a set of functions that gives Windows 95 games and other applications
their power. Using these functions allows applications to perform advanced functions in
networking, graphics, sound and input beyond what’s possible on other operating systems and
accounts for much of the performance gains associated with Windows 95 games. Interstate ‘76 for
Windows 95 uses DirectSound, DirectDraw and DirectInput, as well as Direct 3D for the hardware
accelerated version.
